ICE Software / Vessel Access

Canatec’s ICE Program uses the “Ice Numeral” calculation process of Transport Canada’s Arctic Ice Regime Shipping System (AIRSS) to determine access to ice infested areas for the various classes of vessel ice capability.

Maps of access (“go/no-go”) can be generated for:

  • Polar Class (PC) vessels 1 through 7
  • Ice Classes 1A Super, 1A, 1B, and 1C
  • Canadian Arctic Classes CAC3 and CAC4
  • Canadian Ice Types A, B, C, D, and E

In Canatec’s ICE Program, historical ice numerals can be calculated for a user-defined point for possible input to user models. The tabular output is interactive, allowing the user to change the vessel class on-screen, as well as ice decay and roughness factors which affect ice numeral calculation.
